I have always had a soft spot for the S8. I do not do the majority of our buying, but there are a couple of cars I keep an especially close eye out for, and an S8 is one of them. When this one appeared, I was immediately interested. They do not come up often in this sort of condition, and finding one with two owners, an exceptional maintenance record and the work this car has had recently carried out is exactly what we look for.

The first owner kept it from new until 2023, with the second owner owning it since. It is being sold for personal reasons and, having seen the amount of paperwork that accompanies the car and spoken to the people who have maintained it, the story behind it is exactly what we look for.

The 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 is the other reason these cars are so special. At low throttle it is almost absurdly smooth, quietly gathering speed with an effortless wall of torque. Then you put your foot down properly and the character changes completely. The power arrives with a seriousness that you simply do not expect from something this refined. It is smooth, composed and incredibly comfortable one moment, then feels like it is preparing for take-off the next.

This particular car has also had an exceptional amount of mechanical work carried out in the last year. In August 2026, £6,554.61 was spent on new spark plugs and coil packs, a new PCV valve, replacement lambda sensors, a full walnut blast, belts and further smaller items. This is exactly the sort of expenditure we like to see on an S8 because it shows the car has been maintained rather than simply driven until something needs attention.

The service history is equally impressive. The engine has been serviced on average every 6,098 miles, comfortably below Audi's recommended service interval. Audi main dealer servicing makes up the earlier history, followed by a trusted local garage that knew the car well and maintained it through its later ownership.

It is also completely standard, which is exactly how we would want one. The specification includes 21-inch alloy wheels, sports differential, adaptive air suspension, adaptive cruise control, 360-degree camera, park assist, BOSE sound system, four-zone climate control with heated rear seats, front memory seating, perforated black leather, carbon fibre interior trim and a suede headliner. The optional adaptive exhaust sound adds another dimension to the V8 when you want it.

The sports differential is particularly worthwhile on an S8. It makes a substantial difference to how light and agile the car feels, allowing something of this size to feel considerably more natural on a good road than you might expect.

Condition is excellent for the mileage. The tyres are matching Hankook Ventus Evo 3 all round, and the brakes tell their own story. They are in beautiful condition and show none of the signs you would associate with a car that has spent its life being driven hard. There is a genuine sense that this S8 has been looked after rather than ragged around.

When new, this particular example cost £90,285.

For us, the appeal is the whole story. Two owners, an owner who clearly understood what he had, a huge amount of recent preventative maintenance, exceptionally strong servicing, completely standard specification and the sort of condition that makes you want to drive it. This is exactly the sort of S8 we set out to find.
