Priddy’s Motor Company are delighted to present this BMW M850i Convertible, showing 34,722 miles and finished in Carbon Black with BMW Individual Night Blue and Black Extended Merino leather.
The specification is what makes this particular M850i so special, and the colour combination works beautifully. Carbon Black has a lovely trick in the sunlight, revealing a deep blue metallic fleck that gives the paintwork real depth. Inside, the Night Blue and Black BMW Individual leather continues that theme, creating a cabin that feels luxurious without being overly flashy. Extended leather, Piano Black interior trim and BMW’s CraftedClarity glass detailing add to the sense that this is something rather more special than an ordinary convertible.
Then there is the Bowers and Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System. It is a real highlight, with a choice of listening profiles that change the character of the sound, from a more intimate studio experience to a fuller, more immersive presentation. The clarity, depth and volume are excellent, making it a particularly impressive feature when you have the roof up and can appreciate the cabin as a quiet, refined space.
The comfort specification is equally well judged. The front seats are heated and cooled, there is a heated steering wheel, memory seating and neck warmers for open-top driving when the temperature drops. The electric boot and wireless Apple CarPlay make everyday use straightforward, while the Technology and Premium packages bring further convenience.
BMW’s Driving Assistant features are also worth highlighting. The adaptive cruise control can maintain a set distance from the vehicle ahead, while the lane assistance can help with steering on longer journeys. It is useful technology in a car that can cover distance so effortlessly, taking some of the strain out of motorway driving.
The service history is primarily with BMW main dealers, including a major service with spark plugs in February 2023. We have since carried out an oil service and inspection at Priddy’s, replacing the pollen and air filters as part of our preparation. There are four owners from new, and the interior presents in really nice overall condition.
It sits on Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres at all four corners, and the combination of its specification, colour scheme and condition makes this a particularly appealing example.
Of course, the M850i has the performance to match its luxurious surroundings. Its 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 produces 530 hp, delivered through an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive four-wheel-drive system. The exhaust has a character of its own: in Sport mode, the V8 delivers a deep burble with the occasional pop, while Comfort mode quietens things down for more relaxed journeys.
Drop the roof, find a sunny road and the appeal becomes obvious. This is a seriously capable grand tourer, but what we particularly like about this example is the way its individual specification makes every journey feel like an occasion.
