Why did we choose this Defender? It was not just because it looked good in black, although Santorini Black on a Defender 90 does work brilliantly. It was the combination of only two owners from new, Land Rover main dealer history, excellent specification, Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres all round, lovely brakes and the general feel of the car. It has clearly not lived a hard commercial life, and it does not feel like something that has been used carelessly as a runaround. It feels like a well-kept private car.

The previous owner clearly liked the Defender experience too, because he has replaced this with a full Urban special edition. That is always a nice story to have. He has not moved away from the model because he disliked it; he enjoyed it enough to go further into the Defender world, leaving this very smart 90 behind for its next owner.

The specification is a real strength. Heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, memory seats, adaptive cruise control, Meridian sound system, blind spot assist, Apple CarPlay, black perforated leather, black headliner, digital dash, Wade Sensing and the clever under-view camera all make it feel far more premium than a basic utility-style Defender. It also has the tilt and slide panoramic roof, which completely changes the cabin by bringing in light and making the shorter 90 body feel much more open.

Air suspension is another big feature on this car. It gives the Defender a more expensive, settled feel on the road, while still keeping the height and presence people love them for. The driving position is fantastic; you sit high, the bonnet is visible ahead of you, and in Santorini Black the whole thing has a proper sense of presence without needing to be loud or modified.

The electrically deployable towbar is also worth mentioning. It comes with the towing package and appears not to have been used, which is exactly how you would want to find one. It gives you the option and capability there in the background, without the car having the look or feel of something that has spent its life towing.

The service history is reassuring, with Land Rover main dealer records throughout, including the pre-delivery inspection in 2021, oil, brake fluid and air filter in 2023, and a further Land Rover oil service in February 2026. We have also carried out our own inspection, pollen filter, air filter and wipers in preparation for sale.

Condition is very nice throughout. The interior presents really well, the bolsters are in good order, the Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres are fitted all round, and the brakes look barely worn, which speaks volumes about the life this car appears to have had. It drives exactly as you would hope too: smooth, solid, confident and genuinely enjoyable from that high Defender driving position.

This is a very well-judged Defender 90: two owners, Santorini Black, X-Dynamic HSE, Land Rover history, air suspension, cooled seats, panoramic roof, Meridian sound, adaptive cruise, deployable towbar and a condition that supports the story. It looks superb, feels properly cared for and has the specification that makes it easy to enjoy every day.
