Some 991s have the right specification, some have the right history and some simply have that feeling about them. This one has all three. Finished in Carmine Red, owned by just three people from new and with the current owner since 2019, it has been cherished throughout. Every service has been carried out by Porsche, with the latest completed only 700 miles ago.
It is also loaded with 30 factory options, and they are the right ones. Sport Exhaust, Sport Chrono, PASM, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, 20-inch Carrera S wheels, Burmester High-End Surround Sound, ParkAssist with reversing camera and the electric glass sunroof are just the highlights.
The Carmine Red is particularly lovely in person. It has a deep, rich finish rather than the brighter red you see on so many 911s, and it works beautifully against the black detailing and high-gloss black wheels.
Then you open the door. The Custom Tailoring Zuffenhausen interior is exceptional, with deviated stitching running almost everywhere you look — across the dashboard, door panels, centre console, armrests and door handles. Add the Alcantara roof lining, Guards Red seat belts, Porsche crests in the headrests and illuminated carbon-fibre door-sill guards and the cabin feels properly bespoke.
The Burmester system is superb, but it is the combination of the interior, the glass roof and the sound of the Sport Exhaust that makes this such a lovely car to spend time in. Open the roof, drop the windows and the 3.0-litre turbo takes on a completely different character.
It drives beautifully. There is serious pace when you want it, instant PDK shifts and the confidence of four-wheel drive, but it remains a car you can enjoy properly without needing to be driving at ridiculous speeds.
The Pirelli P Zero tyres have over 5.5mm across all four corners and the brakes are in excellent condition — both strong indicators of how carefully this car has been used.
This is exactly the sort of 991 Carrera 4S we want to have in our collection.
