This Defender has come to us in part exchange against one of our Range Rover Vogues, and the appeal is immediately visual. Pangea Green is a brilliant colour on the Defender shape because it suits the character of the car properly. It looks rugged, expensive and different enough to stand out without feeling forced. It is the sort of colour people comment on, and on a 90 with the shorter body, it gives the car a really strong, purposeful look.

The way this example has been finished adds a lot to that presence. The side-mounted storage box, roof rack, side steps and 23-inch alloys completely change the stance of the car. It feels taller, more imposing and more special than a standard Defender 90, and you really do get that commanding feeling from behind the wheel. The D200 mild-hybrid diesel suits this type of Defender well. It is not trying to be the fastest version in the range, but it gives the car the relaxed, dependable feel people want from a proper daily Defender. It is comfortable, practical, easy to place on the road and still has the presence and capability that make these feel so different from a normal SUV.
