The reason we bought this particular GTI is simple: we know the car, and we know the people who have owned it. It came to us from a genuinely lovely local couple who have cared for it over the last five years. They are the sort of people who clearly take pride in what they own, and this GTI has been a real favourite of theirs. They are only parting with it because of a new business venture and not having enough use for it anymore. They were genuinely sad to see it go, and we were pleased to be able to buy it from people we know personally.
This is the GTI Performance, and that distinction matters. With 245 bhp, uprated brakes and Volkswagen’s VAQ front limited-slip differential, it has meaningful upgrades over the standard GTI. The differential helps put the power down when accelerating out of corners, giving the front end more grip and making the car feel sharper and more composed when driven enthusiastically. Paired with the manual gearbox, it makes for a properly engaging hot hatch.
It is also completely standard, which is increasingly appealing when looking at performance Golfs. This example feels tight, drives beautifully and is great fun without sacrificing the everyday usability that makes a Golf GTI so easy to live with.
The silver exterior has a lovely subtle tint to it, while the tartan interior gives it the unmistakable GTI character. It is a straightforward, unmodified example that has clearly been cared for rather than altered.
The service history includes Volkswagen main dealer servicing, followed by maintenance from Autoworks, a local specialist we know and trust. Notable work includes a front differential oil change in 2024 and a major service with spark plugs in May 2026. We have also carried out an oil service, pollen filter, brake fluid and wipers in preparation for its next owner.
For us, this GTI’s appeal goes beyond its specification. It is a standard, manual Performance model with the desirable differential, a sensible ownership history and a story we can personally vouch for. Most importantly, we bought it because we already knew how well it had been looked after.
