This is the sort of full-size Range Rover that still makes a proper statement before you have even driven it. Glacier White gives the car huge presence, and paired with the Autobiography specification it has that big, confident, flagship look these cars do so well. It is not trying to be sporty or overly aggressive; it simply looks expensive, elegant and important, which is exactly how a proper Range Rover should come across.

The big appeal with this example is the combination of the 4.4 SDV8 engine, only three owners from new, Land Rover main dealer visits throughout its recorded history before arriving with us, only £200 annual road tax and a specification that genuinely feels built around passenger comfort. It will also leave us freshly serviced with oil, inspection, air filter, pollen filter, brake fluid and wipers completed, so the next owner is receiving the car properly prepared.

The 4.4 SDV8 is a huge part of why this car feels so right. It has the smoothness and refinement you expect from a full-size Range Rover, but with that deeper reserve of torque that makes it feel completely effortless. It never feels strained or underpowered, even with passengers on board, and that is what makes these such lovely long-distance cars. They just settle down, glide along and make every journey feel easier than it should.

Inside is where this Autobiography really separates itself. Comfort is clearly the whole point of the car, not just for the driver, but for everyone travelling in it. Heated and cooled seats front and rear, memory seats for front and rear passengers, full electric seat adjustment, four-zone climate control, heated steering wheel and massage front seats all make it feel like a proper luxury car rather than just a large SUV with leather seats.

The rear passenger setup is a lovely part of the car too. Those in the back have their own controls, including volume control and the panoramic roof blind, while the electrically deployable rear centre armrest adds to the first-class feel. It is the kind of cabin where every passenger has been thought about, which is what makes an Autobiography feel different from a normal Vogue.

The interior colour combination works beautifully. The black leather and extended leather across the dash and door cards give it a rich, premium feel, while the cream details, wooden trim and cream Alcantara headliner stop the cabin from feeling too dark or heavy. It feels warm, expensive and properly sophisticated inside, and it suits the character of the car perfectly.

The specification continues with a tilt and slide panoramic roof, Meridian surround sound, front armrest fridge, electric split tailgate, electrically deployable tow bar, terrain modes, 360-degree camera with trailer camera, keyless entry and adaptive cruise control. It is the sort of equipment list that makes the car feel complete, and importantly, most of it is the sort of equipment you actually use.

There are also small details that suggest the car has been treated properly. The fact it has been run on Pirelli winter tyres through winter is a nice example, because it shows somebody has thought about the car rather than simply running it on whatever happened to be fitted.

This is a big, comfortable, properly specified Range Rover with the engine everyone wants, the road tax figure everyone likes, and the sort of interior that reminds you why the Autobiography badge matters. It presents very nicely overall and feels exactly like a full-size Range Rover should: calm, strong, luxurious and ready to make every journey feel a little bit more special.
